Learn sailing basics with this hands on, active class. Part of the fun is our RC models! Upon completion of the course you will be able to understand the handling of sails, wind and a small boat. You can also expect some bonus tips for being out on the water!
Consist of 2 evenings and a Sunday morning. The evenings are two hour, fun, practical shore side sessions, and Sunday morning is a Three hour underway session.

Captain Megan will take you out on the water for additional coaching sessions to get you more experience. We are offering these coaching sessions individually, so you can purchase one or all three.
It's a 2 hour session offered Tuesday August 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Time depends on group availability, but we can make almost anything work. That will be coordinated after you register.
Spend a morning sailing on tall ship MJ. Be mentored by the captain and professional crew as you take part in all aspects of running a schooner. You will learn about gaff rig sailing, traditional line handling, safety checks, trim, and get some helm time!
Consist of one 3 hour onboard/underway training session. Class catered to skill level, but having sailed before is expected...but we are flexible. Class normally 10am -1pm on Sunday.
Date for 2023 is Sept. 17, 2023.

Each of these fun and interactive classes consist of: an emergency drill, 2 knots, a guiding principle and 4 items for your checklist. Upon completion of the course you will have complied, 4 emergency response plans, 6 useful knots, 4 easy to remember principles, and a 12 point procedure checklist.

Consist of 3 two hour practical shore side sessions.
Class dates for 2023 are August 28th, 29th, and 30th.
This class covers the general rules of the road and basic chart work to help you be confident piloting your vessel on the water. You will practice many practical scenarios through which to navigate your boat.
Class consist of 5 hours of class time; one shore-side session (3 hours), and one underway session on Tall ship MJ (2 hours). You get to keep your tools! If you already have them - you get a discounted rate.

Start from scratch or come with some skills to learn useful knots and awesome traditional rope work
Make your own ship's hammock while learning traditional rope work like splicing, grommets and siezings. This class is hard work but very rewarding! You leave with a hammock, fid, sail needle and so much knowledge. We have two levels of hammock making to help match you with your skill level! Great winter project!
Advance to trickier traditional work designs to make helpful or decorative pieces for your boat. Great for crafters and artist as well!
